Starwalk 2008 - 31st Edition

This is the 31st Starwalk that is held annually in Penang. For me, this is the second time I participate in this event.

Before the walk (not a race though), I had only slept for 3 or 4 hours with no training. I told myself that I will just walk as usual and enjoy by myself because most of my friends are not participating anymore. Hey guys, do you all need to be so realistic? (You know what I mean) :)

I met Jia Jun and Li Yang that morning. Can I consider that I had not met Jing Xiang? Yi Jing said he was not going. Haiz, I remember Jia Jun, Yi Jing and me walked together last year. Now, no members left.

As the walk started, I walked alone. I kept walking and walking, never stop nor taking a rest. Everything was the same as last year's, the route, the scenery and the sky. The only thing that changed was that the number of people boosted to over 14,000 people.

I told myself that I'm going to beat myself compared to last year and I did it. I completed the walk in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Last year I think I arrive after 1 hour and 30 something minutes. The people in-charge there told so softly that I can't figure out which position I was in. I only heard a '4' word. So, I think is either 34, 44 or 54. After a while, I saw Li Yang finished the walk and he also did not hear his position clearly but he heard a '2'.

The place around PISA was full of people. I managed to get some drinks and a copy of The Star newspaper. This year, I was too lazy to play the games at DiGi booth. There was a long queue there.

The lucky draw contest, Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) was 'boo'ed by the crowd as it sponsored a return flight ticket from Penang to KL while other no-frills airlines such as Firefly and Air Asia sponsored air tickets to Medan, Koh Samui (my dream destination), Guilin, Taipei and more. One mother and her daughter was so lucky that her mother won a 32" Panasonic Viera LCD TV while her daughter won a Suzuki Smash Revo motorcycle.

The event was indeed a success as it had attracted more participants this year. I will definitely join next year.
