Hold On One Second!

This is an information just to let everyone knows. My Physics teacher once told me before and I couldn't believe that it is going to happen!

Eager to see the back end of 2008? Be forewarned: the world's official timekeeper has decided to prolong the year -- by one full second, to be precise.

Which means a Champagne-soaked countdown to 2009 something like this: "...THREE, TWO, ONE-AND-A-HALF, ONE... Happy New Year!"

The extra second was mandated by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) in Paris, and is not to be taken lightly.

Satellites that orbit at speeds calculated in kilometres (miles) per second, the Internet, global positioning systems -- all depend on knowing exactly what time it is.

IERS head Daniel Gambis announced the time-stretching measure in July in a letter addressed to "authorities responsible for the measurement and distribution of time".

That would be the white-robed guardians of the 200-odd ultra-accurate atomic clocks scattered in national time temples around the globe.

"The last adjustment dates to 2005, and the next could happen in 2012 or 2013," Gambis told AFP.

Leap days occur once every four years because it takes 365 days plus six hours for our planet to complete an orbit around the Sun.

But leap seconds are added strictly on a case-by-case basis, depending on need. This year's will be the 24th bonus second since the practice was initiated in 1972.

The sleight-of-clock is necessary to reconcile two different time scales.

One is established by the atomic time pieces, which are accurate to billionth of a second per day.

The other is based on Earth's imperfect rotation on its own axis.

The two get out of sync because the planet's spin is affected by a host of slightly fluctuating variables, including solar and lunar gravity, the movement of the tides, solar wind, space dust and magnetic storms.

Even global warming has gotten into the act because melting ice caps have an impact too.
And so, at exactly 23:59:59 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) -- or Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), to the scientifically literate -- on December 31, the world's clocks will add a beat to their metronomic tick tick tock.

Excitement In The City

Today is the launching day of the all new Honda City. Before that, Thailand had already launched the model a few months earlier and I have seen it on the Internet. I can only use one word to describe the car - COOL!

The car is absolutely stylish, posh and superb. I went to the Honda showroom in Penang and experienced the car myself. ONE thing I really like about the car is that it can play audio if I use the USB port to connect with my iPod! Wow, only expensive cars could have that feature. That means I can play all my favourite songs while driving!

There are two models, the Grade S and Grade E. The price of Grade S is RM84K while Grade E at RM89K.

For more info, go to http://www.honda.com.my/ and explore yourself. Adios!

Starwalk 2008 - 31st Edition

This is the 31st Starwalk that is held annually in Penang. For me, this is the second time I participate in this event.

Before the walk (not a race though), I had only slept for 3 or 4 hours with no training. I told myself that I will just walk as usual and enjoy by myself because most of my friends are not participating anymore. Hey guys, do you all need to be so realistic? (You know what I mean) :)

I met Jia Jun and Li Yang that morning. Can I consider that I had not met Jing Xiang? Yi Jing said he was not going. Haiz, I remember Jia Jun, Yi Jing and me walked together last year. Now, no members left.

As the walk started, I walked alone. I kept walking and walking, never stop nor taking a rest. Everything was the same as last year's, the route, the scenery and the sky. The only thing that changed was that the number of people boosted to over 14,000 people.

I told myself that I'm going to beat myself compared to last year and I did it. I completed the walk in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Last year I think I arrive after 1 hour and 30 something minutes. The people in-charge there told so softly that I can't figure out which position I was in. I only heard a '4' word. So, I think is either 34, 44 or 54. After a while, I saw Li Yang finished the walk and he also did not hear his position clearly but he heard a '2'.

The place around PISA was full of people. I managed to get some drinks and a copy of The Star newspaper. This year, I was too lazy to play the games at DiGi booth. There was a long queue there.

The lucky draw contest, Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) was 'boo'ed by the crowd as it sponsored a return flight ticket from Penang to KL while other no-frills airlines such as Firefly and Air Asia sponsored air tickets to Medan, Koh Samui (my dream destination), Guilin, Taipei and more. One mother and her daughter was so lucky that her mother won a 32" Panasonic Viera LCD TV while her daughter won a Suzuki Smash Revo motorcycle.

The event was indeed a success as it had attracted more participants this year. I will definitely join next year.

Coming Soon

Well, I have just enjoyed my holidays in Hat Yai, Thailand. Actually, I planned to blog my experience right after coming back from my trip but it seems that computer games attract my attention more than this "typing work" or "fingers exercise".

Don't get too excited, my dear readers. I'm not going to talk about my trip in this blog as I am not in the right "mood" for the moment. Thousands of apologise...

This is just an informal "prelude" of my Thai trip.

Okay, you may want to know why I am not writing about my holiday experience.

Am i too selfish to let people know about my trip? Or I don't want to share with all my readers?

"Excuses" are as below:

  1. Right after coming back from Thailand, the first think in my mind is my CATS! Before going on holiday, I have sent four of my cats to their "nursery". Three of my cats have not been outdoor before so it's quite worry for me and my family to put them under the care of somebody else. So, we have always thought of our cats during the entire journey.
  2. After taking my cats back to home, I can't help myself playing with them EVERYDAY. Missed them so much. Max has become thinner. Oh, how hurt was my feeling. :P He must had suffered in the cage. (As I don't put my cats in cages)
  3. Generals, War Craft Frozen Throne and The Sims 2. Wow, I missed my computer games damn much. Anyway, SPM just over, enjoy as much as I can!
  4. iPod-ing. Downloads tonnes of songs to synchronize with my iPod. I must have been far far far behind the trend. So many new songs I have not heard before owing to SPM - again.
  5. Shopping malls. I have not visited these "heaven" due to SPM - and again. Gurney Plaza's new wing and Queensbay Mall- my fav.
  6. Friends. Haven't hang out with my buddies for three-weeks long.
  7. Cousins and relatives. Meet my cousin from UK and relatives from KL.

Alright, I guess these reasons are enough before my dear readers fall asleep.

My Hat Yai Trip (with photos) will be coming soon...

Watch Out for it!

Bye Bye

I found this lyrics so wonderful and meaningful. Its a song by Mariah Carey.

This is for my people who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man, or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We will never say bye (no, no, no)

Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my people who lost their grandmothers
Lift your head to the sky ‘cause we will never say bye

As a child there were them times
I didn’t get it but you kept me in line
I didn’t know why you didn’t show up sometimes
On sunday mornings and I missed you
But when we talked too
All them grown full things
Separation brings
You never let me know it
You never let it show because
You loved me and obviously
There’s so much more left to say
If you were with me today face to face

I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like
“I wish I could talk to you for awhile”
“I wish I could find a way try not to cry”
As time goes by
And soon as you reach a better place
Still I’ll give the whole world to see your face
And I’m bragging right next to you
It feels like you gone too soon
The hardest thing to do is say bye bye

By-Bye By-bye By-bye
By-Bye By-bye By-bye
By-Bye By-bye By-bye
By-Bye

And you never got the chance to see how good I’ve done
And you never got to see me back at number one
I wish that you were here to celebrate together
I wish that we could spend the holidays together
I remember when you used to tuck me in at night

With the Teddy Bear you gave to me that I held so tight
I thought you were so strong
That you can make it through whatever
It’s so hard to accept the fact you’re gone forever

I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like
“I wish I could talk to you for awhile”
“I wish I could find a way try not to cry”
As time goes by
And soon as you reach a better place
Still I’ll give the world to see your face
And I’m bragging right next to you where
It feels like you gone too soon
The hardest thing to do is say bye bye

By-Bye By-bye By-bye
By-Bye By-bye By-bye
By-Bye By-bye By-bye
By-Bye

This is for my peoples who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man, or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We will never say bye (no, no, no)

Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my people who lost their grandfather
Lift your head to the sky ‘cause we will never say bye
I never knew I could hurt like this

And everyday life goes on like
“I wish I could talk to you for awhile”
“I wish I could find a way try not to cry”
As time goes by
And soon as you reach a better place
Still I’ll give the world to see your face
And I’m bragging right next to you
It feels like you gone too soon
The hardest thing to do is say bye bye

"She" Had Died

To all of us, tonight (19/9) might be an ordinary night. Some of us go to tuition classes as usual, some are having dinner at home with family members while some might relaxing themselves for a short time after the hectic exams. BUT, I was not.

I went to tuition class as usual too. It was the same Friday night as usual. At 8.45pm after arriving home from tuition class, I heard an uncle told my parents that my cat had died. It was been bitten by a group of bitchy, inhumane, dirty, bastard, hopeless wild dogs. Not just one but a gang!!! My cat was just 5 MONTHS OLD and she had been bullied by those old and still-not-yet die dogs. Immediately, we sprinted to find our cat everywhere at my neighbourhood. I did not search for her. I was at home, taking care of her mother.

The door bell rang, bad news came. Our cat really died. I can feel it from the expressions of my mom and sis. I quickly bring her mother to downstairs.

OH! I cried instantly when I saw her face covered with blood and her stomach that has been punctured, with intestines coming out. Her eyes wide opened. For God's sake, I did not dare to see anymore. Her legs were bitten too. According to my parents, a dog chased her downstairs. Unfortunately, she ran to the alley at the back of my apartment instead of running towards home. At the alley, more dogs were there. So, the bloody, bird brain dogs chased after her and bite her. They even flung her and tossed her. I really want to kill all the dogs!

If the cat were you, what will you feel?
Being so hopeless and helpless, your mother can't help you too. The dogs were too ferocious. Just imagine that you are just 8 or 9 years old and a group of cold-blooded people smacked you, bit you and finally KILLED you!
I can feel that time, she is really helpless, no way to run, no way to fight, no way to defend, the chance is so thin. Just wait to DIE!
But why miracle did not happen?

Her mother is a wild cat too. On January, she came to our apartment. At first, we provide her food. But, she gave birth to a litter of cats during the Chinese New Year. So, we provide her with shelter that is at outside of our house. The cats all were given away to relatives so that they have better chance of surviving. Of course, we gave them about one month's time to let them become more healthy and independent before giving out them to other people.

Cats breed really fast. On April, she gave birth to 6 kittens. One of them is "her". She had the longest tail among her siblings. She was the eldest among her siblings. But, she was the weakest.
Her eyes could not open. She always "miao" her mother. She is considered as the most dependent cat. She really needs her mother. That is why we did not give her to other people.
We simply call her "Girl".

She had a strong bond with her mother. They sleep together in a small basket. During rainy days, her mother let her sleep on the cosy basket while her mother sleeps on the cold floor. She always play with her mother and her mother will sometimes bite her.

On day, her mother bite her until her neck was swollen. We took her to the veterinary clinic to had an operation. "This cat is very tahan mati" said the doctor. Even anasthetics given by doctor was not effective on her. She kept struggling and wanted to escape. At last, the operation was successful and she came back to her mother's side.

Since then, we kept an eye on her. She grew healthily and was not as weak as it was when she was small. She was a very playful cat. She catched cockroaches and lizards. She was also very obedient.

The most important thing about her is she had a BLUE EYES and WHITE FUR with LONG TAIL. I considered it as a very elegant cat.

My mom always cook fishes for them, daily. Happy days went by for 5 months for this cat without any threat or danger. But not until today.

Recently, we noticed that she had started to run down from our home. Last or two weeks before, she encountered with a dog downstair. Luckily my father saw her and quickly saved her from danger. But why good things doesn't knock twice but bad things did? So about one and a half hour ago, she had just left us behind.

We buried her at the soil downstair. Just beside another grave of cat that was died last year. That was the first cat my family had. In other words, we have lost TWO cats in one year plus.

I hope that she did go up there, heaven. If she reincarnates, I hope that she will lead a more happier life.

She had suffered enough... enough...

Where's the "child's play"?

The Mid Autumn Festival had just over. The Mid Autumn this year was so different when compared to last time. Maybe it’s due to exam period. I don’t even have the chance to celebrate it. Quite sad actually… Seeing most of the “lucky” children coming to relatives houses nearby my house, I can’t help it but just have the reminiscence of how I was like that before.

“Where had all those happy moments gone to?” I asked myself.

Oh no, are they been destroyed by our age? Does it mean that as we grow older, we can’t have the chance to enjoy those happy times anymore? Maybe we have something more exciting to explore ahead. But for the moment, I haven’t seen mine. Sad…

The moon on that night was shining for about one hour only. Luckily I managed to take a breathtaking view of the moon as I was so tired of studying at that time. As I flung open my window, WOW. Its brightness was extraordinary. Of course, I did take some photographs. As time went by, the moon was not seen anymore. Clouds have obstructed its glow. It last for the whole night. Some of my friends did not even see the moon on that night.

“Why is it so unusual this year?”

Despite the “missing” moon, it can’t stop the children from having a wonderful moment.

Ah! How wonderful childhood was!!!

(P/s: Good Luck to Belinda. May God shine your path to glorious success!)

Long Long Ago

It's been a long long time since I update my blog.

The rain today is neither torrential nor drizzle.

Feel so moody in this condition.

Exam is just around the corner.

Guess I have to make my revision in the 11th hour again.

But, it still considered early compared to previous exams where I only study the day before.

Still, I am a bit worry.

Worry when will the rain stop.

Worry of my results.

Worry of the unexpected things it may come in life.

Worry for a long way to go.

Ya, A LONG WAY......

Long long way.......

Stronger

Shall Thy be disappointed
Shall Thou be happy
Shall Thy be melancholic
Shall Thou be proud
Shall Thy be walking alone
Shall Thou struts like a peacock

No one knows
Just be stronger...

Thou has been thy friend no more
As the cause is from thou yourself
With unbearable personality of a loser
That causes hatred of the world
But still

No one knows
Just be stronger...

Thou does not try to appreciate friendship
Thy and all people are the one who change
Just because of a loser like thou
And thou does not notice
But still behaving with the loser's attitude

No one knows
Just be stronger...

Although thy does not as lucky as thou
Thou is not as good as thy
But still thou get what thy doesn't
Is that call fair and square

No one knows
Just be stronger...

For thy sure that one day
Thou will not always get what thou wants
Thy will get back what belongs to thy
For thou to feel as from what others feel
For justice
For lesson
For friends
Loser shall not be standing on this earth
Nor shall be taking what he doesn't deserves to

No one knows
Just be stronger...

New 7 Wonders of Nature in Process

The new seven wonders had just been chosen on the 7th of July last year in Lisbon, Portugal. Last year, I did vote for the new 7 wonders and was very happy that at least a mere person like me can contribute a two cents' worth vote for the world. However, the Petronas Twin Towers was initially listed in the nomination list but after that, they eliminate it without any reason.
This year, the whole world will once vote for the new seven wonders of NATURE. Malaysia has two spots been nominated. One in Sarawak that is the Mulu Caves while the other one is the Sipadan Island in Sabah.

Bad news is, currently, these two places are not in the Top Seven. In other words, they would not be chosen to be the seven wonders if the results were being announce shortly.
Therefore, I hope that everyone can help these two magnificient places in Malaysia to at least have a place in the Top Seven.

Well, you might think that what is so great about these two places??? Perhaps you might thought that there are still many natures in the world that deserve to be the seven wonders of nature.

OK, Mulu Caves is the largest cave passage in the WOLRD! While the Sipadan Island is the most breath-taking spot for beach lovers. In fact, Indonesia had once tried to claim that Sipadan was belong to the Republic of Indonesia. The case was brought up to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands and Malaysia won the case. So, we have tried so hard to get that "Paradise" and now we must also get a "Title" for it. Don't you think so?
